About Federation

The development of Pencak Silat in this country dates back to the late 1950s, when the first Pencak Silat school was established by Haka Tahir. This early introduction laid the foundation for the growth of the martial art, preserving its traditional roots while gradually expanding its presence within the national sporting landscape.

Building on this legacy, the National Pencak Silat Federation was officially formed in 2000 to organize, regulate, and promote the sport at a national level. Since then, the federation has worked to unify practitioners and develop structured pathways for athletes, coaches, and officials.

Currently, the federation comprises 5 affiliated schools, supporting a community of approximately 60 athletes, 10 coaches, and 10 referees/jurors. This structure reflects a focused yet dedicated effort to maintain quality training, officiating standards, and competitive participation.

The federation has also demonstrated a strong international presence, having participated in multiple World Pencak Silat Championships since 1986. Its most recent participation was at the World Championship held in Bali in 2016, showcasing continued engagement with the global Silat community.

Through its historical roots and ongoing development efforts, the federation continues to uphold the values, tradition, and competitive spirit of Pencak Silat on both national and international stages.
