Founded in Jakarta on 11 March 1980 by 4 National Pencak Silat Federations of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam, Pencak Silat International Federation is the largest international governing body of competitive Pencak Silat (sport silat) with 79 member countries in 5 continents. The PIF organizes the Junior and Senior World Pencak Silat Championships, which are each held every other year.
The PIF in compliance with the “Fundamental Principle 6 of the Olympic Charter” as stated “The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms shall be secured without discrimination of any kind, such as race, color, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.” The PIF is committed to providing a safe environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity and where the priority is given to the safety and the wellbeing of all participants in the respect for everyone to enjoy its rights
