What is WADA?

The World Anti-Doping Agency is the independent international organization responsible for harmonizing anti-doping policies across all sports and countries.

At the center of its work is the World Anti-Doping Code (Code)—the global framework that standardizes anti-doping rules and regulations across all sporting bodies.

The World Anti-Doping Framework

The Code is supported by eight (8) International Standards, ensuring consistency and fairness worldwide:

  • Prohibited List (updated annually)
  • Testing & Investigations
  • Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE)
  • Results Management
  • Laboratories
  • Education
  • Code Compliance
  • Protection of Privacy & Personal Information

IPSF-PERSILAT aligns fully with this framework to ensure global best practices in Pencak Silat.

IPSF Anti-Doping Policy

IPSF-PERSILAT strives to align itself with WADA in order to implement an effective and Code-compliant anti-doping program for Pencak Silat.

This includes:

  • Adoption of international anti-doping rules
  • Cooperation with testing authorities
  • Enforcement of anti-doping regulations
  • Continuous monitoring and improvement

Athlete Responsibilities

All athletes are required to:

  • Comply with the World Anti-Doping Code
  • Understand and follow the Prohibited List
  • Accept the principle of strict liability (responsibility for substances in their body)
  • Submit to doping control when selected
  • Apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) when necessary

Doping Control Process

IPSF-PERSILAT follows WADA-compliant procedures, including:

  • In-competition testing
  • Out-of-competition testing
  • Sample collection (urine/blood)
  • Laboratory analysis (WADA-accredited labs)
  • Results management and disciplinary procedures

Athletes must cooperate fully with doping control officials at all times.

Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE)

Athletes who require prohibited substances for medical reasons must obtain a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).

This ensures that:

  • Medical needs are respected
  • Fair competition is maintained

Athletes who require prohibited substances for medical treatment must apply for a TUE through their respective National Anti-Doping Organization, in accordance with World Anti-Doping Agency regulations. IPSF-PERSILAT recognizes valid TUE approvals issued by authorized anti-doping organizations.

Anti-Doping Rule Violations

Violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Presence of a prohibited substance in a sample
  • Use or attempted use of prohibited substances or methods
  • Refusal or failure to submit to testing
  • Tampering with doping control
  • Possession or trafficking of banned substances

Sanctions & Consequences

Violations may result in:

  • Disqualification of results
  • Suspension or ineligibility
  • Long-term or lifetime bans
  • Additional disciplinary actions

IPSF-PERSILAT enforces strict sanctions to protect the integrity of the sport.

Education & Awareness

IPSF-PERSILAT actively promotes anti-doping education through:

  • International competitions and events
  • Workshops for athletes, coaches, and officials
  • Awareness campaigns and digital resources

Education ensures that all stakeholders understand their rights, responsibilities, and risks.
