About Federation

The Fédération Sénégalaise de Pencak Silat (FSPS) is the official organization responsible for the development and promotion of Pencak Silat in Senegal. The sport was first introduced in 2016 through initial training camps organized in preparation for the World Pencak Silat Championship in Bali.

The federation was formally established in October 2016 and has since been working to build a foundation for Pencak Silat within the country. It currently operates with two affiliated clubs, maintaining a small but dedicated community of approximately 10–12 members under the guidance of one coach.

Following its formal application, Senegal was granted Junior Member status by PERSILAT, marking its entry into the global Silat community. While participation in major competitions has been limited due to early-stage development, the federation has engaged internationally as an observer, laying the groundwork for future competitive involvement.

Despite its emerging status, the Fédération Sénégalaise de Pencak Silat continues to focus on grassroots development, awareness, and expansion, aiming to establish a stronger presence of Pencak Silat in Senegal and across West Africa.
