The German Pencak Silat Federation (GPSF) is the national governing body responsible for the development and promotion of Pencak Silat in Germany. Officially established in June 2016, the federation represents a growing effort to introduce, organize, and expand the practice of this traditional Southeast Asian martial art within the country.
The federation’s membership currently consists of one primary school (perguruan), which serves as the central hub for training and development. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the federation had built a strong base of up to 500 students. Following the pandemic, it continues to maintain an active community of approximately 150 students, supported by 5 qualified coaches.
In addition to athlete development, the German Pencak Silat Federation has also contributed to the technical and officiating standards of the sport, with 4 internationally recognized referees/jurors representing Germany on the global stage.
Through its structured training programs and commitment to excellence, the German Pencak Silat Federation continues to promote Pencak Silat as both a cultural discipline and a competitive sport, contributing to its steady growth in Germany and across Europe.
