About Federation

The South Africa Pencak Silat Association (SAPSA) is the official body responsible for the promotion and development of Pencak Silat in South Africa. The sport was first introduced in late 2009 in Johannesburg, marking the beginning of its presence in the country.

SAPSA became part of the international Silat community in 2010 under PERSILAT and made its debut at the World Pencak Silat Championships held at Padepokan. The federation has continued its international engagement, with its most recent participation at the World Championship in Bali in 2016.

Currently, the federation supports a developing structure consisting of 25 athletes and 5 coaches. Despite being in a growth phase, SAPSA has established a solid foundation and continues to work towards expanding Pencak Silat across South Africa.
