About Federation

PhilSilat Sports Association, Inc. is the official governing body for Pencak Silat in the Philippines. Established on 8 July 2014, the federation is dedicated to promoting, organizing, and developing Pencak Silat as both a competitive sport and a cultural martial art within the country.

The roots of organized Pencak Silat in the Philippines date back to 1990, when the first national federation—the Philippine Pencak Silat Association—was founded by Jamalul Kiram III. Building on this legacy, PhilSilat Sports Association, Inc. was later established by Celia Fatima H. Kiram to strengthen the sport’s structure and expand its national and international presence.

Recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee, the federation plays a vital role in athlete development, technical training, and participation in international competitions. It works to preserve the cultural essence of Pencak Silat while advancing its growth within the modern sporting framework.

Through its leadership and continued efforts, PhilSilat Sports Association, Inc. remains committed to elevating Pencak Silat in the Philippines and contributing to the global Silat community.
