About Federation

The Pencak Silat of Asia (PFA) is the official continental governing body dedicated to the promotion, development, and regulation of Pencak Silat across Asia. As a unifying platform for national federations, PFA works to strengthen the presence of the sport while preserving its deep cultural and historical roots.

Pencak Silat originates from the Malay Archipelago, particularly in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore. It is a martial art shaped by centuries of tradition, embodying not only techniques of self-defense but also rich elements of culture, philosophy, and artistic expression.

PFA is committed to fostering the growth of Pencak Silat as both a competitive sport and a cultural heritage practice. It coordinates regional events, championships, training programs, and development initiatives, ensuring that member nations operate within a structured and internationally aligned framework.

Beyond competition, Pencak Silat represents a holistic discipline that integrates physical strength, mental resilience, artistic movement, and spiritual values. It promotes discipline, respect, and harmony—making it more than just a sport, but a way of life.

Through its leadership and collaborative efforts, the Pencak Silat of Asia continues to play a vital role in expanding the reach of Silat across the continent while safeguarding its authenticity for future generations.
