The Iraqi Central Committee of Pencak Silat is the official body responsible for the development and promotion of Pencak Silat in Iraq. Established in 2024, the committee represents a new and emerging effort to introduce and structure the sport within the country.
Despite being recently formed, the organization has already established a presence across multiple regions, including 4 schools in Baghdad, 1 in Basra, and 1 in northern Iraq. This early expansion demonstrates strong interest and potential for growth.
Currently, the committee is in its developmental phase, with plans to further strengthen technical capacity by inviting international experts for training of coaches and athletes. The leadership brings a strong background in martial arts, recognizing Pencak Silat as a dynamic and inspiring discipline.
Iraq was invited to participate in the World Pencak Silat Championship 2024 in Abu Dhabi, but was unable to attend due to visa constraints. Nonetheless, the federation remains committed to future international participation.
With a growing foundation and dedicated leadership, the Iraqi Central Committee of Pencak Silat is working towards establishing and expanding the sport across Iraq and integrating into the global Silat community.
