About Federation

The Canada Pencak Silat Federation (CPSF) is the official organization dedicated to the promotion and development of Pencak Silat in Canada. Founded in September 2017 by two pioneering Silat schools, the federation has grown steadily and now includes four affiliated schools across the country.

Registered as a non-profit organization, CPSF works to introduce and expand Pencak Silat as both a traditional martial art and a competitive sport. Despite challenges—particularly the limited recognition of Silat as a combative sport within Canada—the federation continues to build awareness and develop structured programs.

Currently, CPSF supports approximately 150 students, including 18–25 competitive athletes. The federation is backed by 6 coaches and 4 referees/jurors, contributing to both athlete development and officiating standards.

Since obtaining PERSILAT membership in 2019, the federation has actively participated in international events, including competitions in Melaka (2022) and Abu Dhabi (2024), strengthening Canada’s presence in the global Silat community.

Through dedicated leadership and continued growth, the Canada Pencak Silat Federation is steadily establishing Pencak Silat within Canada while contributing to its international expansion.
