About Federation

Persekutuan Pencak Silat Kebangsaan Brunei Darussalam (PERSIB) is the official national governing body for Pencak Silat in Brunei Darussalam. Established in 1986, PERSIB is a formally registered and legally recognized organization that continues to operate under the provisions of the Societies Act, ensuring structured governance and development of the sport within the country.

PERSIB holds a distinguished position in the global Silat community, having been accepted as a founding member of the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) in 1986. This highlights Brunei’s early and significant contribution to the internationalization of Pencak Silat.

Brunei Darussalam made its mark on the international stage shortly after, participating in the Southeast Asian Games on 19 September 1987 in Jakarta, where Pencak Silat was featured as an athletic event. Led by the late Pengiran Haji Jaludin bin Pengiran Mustafa, the national team achieved remarkable success, securing a Gold Medal through silat practitioner Awg Zabidi Ali. This milestone marked the beginning of Brunei’s continued participation and success in international competitions.

Since then, PERSIB has remained committed to the promotion, preservation, and development of Pencak Silat, supporting athletes, coaches, and officials while upholding the cultural and sporting values of the martial art.
