About Federation

The Belgium Pencak Silat Federation (BPSF) is the national governing body responsible for the promotion and development of Pencak Silat in Belgium. The history of Pencak Silat in Belgium dates back to 1982 with the establishment of Sportschool Harimau, followed by BPSB Padepokan in 1989. These institutions laid the groundwork for the growth and recognition of the martial art in the country.

Belgium has played an active role in the European Pencak Silat community, having hosted the European Championships three times. Additionally, the country has maintained a strong tradition of organizing the Belgium Open for over 25 years, contributing to the sport’s continuity and competitive development.

Currently, the federation operates with one primary school and a community of approximately 50 members. It is supported by 3 qualified coaches and 2 internationally recognized Wasit/Jury officials, ensuring both athlete development and adherence to global standards.

Through its long-standing tradition, experienced leadership, and commitment to international engagement, the Belgium Pencak Silat Federation continues to promote Pencak Silat as both a cultural heritage and a competitive sport in Belgium and across Europe.
