About Federation

The Comité National Pencak Silat Algeria (CNPSA) is the official body responsible for the promotion and development of Pencak Silat in Algeria. The sport was first introduced in 2014 by Sakfan Lahcen, who began practicing and promoting the martial art after exposure in Indonesia.

Initially operating as a subcommittee under the Algerian Federation of Martial Arts, the organization evolved into a national committee in 2021, marking a major step toward structured governance and development. Algeria officially joined PERSILAT in 2016 after formal application and engagement with the international federation.

Pencak Silat in Algeria has grown rapidly, with Tapak Suci being the primary perguruan active in the country. The federation currently includes:

  • Athletes: Approximately 2,300 (2,000 male and 300 female)
  • Coaches: 45
  • Referees: 38

Algeria has also demonstrated strong international performance since its debut:

  • 2016 (Bali, Indonesia): 1 Bronze Medal (first participation)
  • 2018 (Singapore): 2 Bronze Medals
  • 2022 (Malaysia): 2 Bronze Medals

Through rapid growth, international participation, and committed leadership, the Comité National Pencak Silat Algeria continues to expand the presence of Pencak Silat in North Africa and contribute to its global development.
