The International Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF-PERSILAT) attended the 2025 World Conference on Doping in Sport, held from December 1 to 5, 2025, in Busan, the second-largest city in South Korea. The conference was hosted by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency), KADA (Korean Anti-Doping Agency), and the Busan Metropolitan City.
IPSF-PERSILAT is currently undergoing evaluation for WADA signatory status, a key step toward achieving membership in the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Attending this WADA-hosted global conference was therefore essential—not only to stay informed about the latest developments in anti-doping, but also to build vital relationships with stakeholders in anti-doping and international sports organizations, whose recognition is a prerequisite for IOC membership.
A primary focus of the conference was the discussion and development of the 2027 Anti-Doping Code and Standards, intended as an enhancement to the 2025 version. It provided a valuable platform to hear brief three-minute speeches from National Olympic Committees (NOCs), other sports authorities, and Olympian athletes worldwide, who shared their anti-doping experiences and recommendations for strengthening the future code.
Beyond attending sessions, IPSF-PERSILAT also held strategic meetings with key leaders from WADA’s Committee, AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sports), and the International Testing Agency (ITA).
Looking ahead, WADA has scheduled four symposiums for 2026:
- March 18–19, 2026, in Baku, Azerbaijan
- April 28–29, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt
- June 2–3, 2026, in Beijing, China
- July 1–2, 2026, in Lima, Peru
These upcoming events will provide further opportunities for IPSF-PERSILAT to engage with the global anti-doping community and continue advancing toward full WADA compliance and IOC recognition. (tssg)
